Transocean is the largest offshore drilling contractor in the whole world. They pride themselves on being industry leaders in ultra-deepwater drilling. Transocean has a main office in Houston, Texas and eight other divisions around the world.
Their hiring is done through two channels: all American citizens and permanent residents are hired for Transocean offshore jobs through the North American office. Everyone else is hired from a global office.
Transocean runs their Training for Optimum Performance in Safety (TOPS) safety school in Louisiana for their North American employees. It is an 11 day course that teaches you about Transocean, communication, rig safety, helicopter safety, accident prevention, and water survival.
Working On A Transocean Rig
Normal work schedule on a North American rig is 21 days on, 21 days off. In most cases you get to work on helicopter. They offer four meals a day, satellite TV, movies, laundry service, workout rooms, and Internet access.
You will work for a 12 hour shift on board the rig which is the industry standard.

Transocean operates a tremendous amount of rigs and drilling equipment. They have everything from swamp barges to the newest ultra-deepwater rigs. At this time they have three dynamically positioned deepwater rigs being built.
The new Discoverer Enterprise is actually capable of drilling two separate wells at a time.
