Of course, another important place in the Louisiana offshore job market is all of Terrebonne Parish. 2009 labor statistics showed an estimated 3000 offshore oil and gas jobs in this area. This is mostly due to the numerous New Orleans headquartered oil companies. Again, you can find out more in our article about offshore jobs in New Orleans if you would like to contact some of these companies.

Iberia Parish is another source of entry level offshore jobs in Louisiana. While there are not as many contractors based out of here as there are in Lafayette, Iberia’s close proximity to the water still will give you many opportunities.

You can also always head out to a few of the big offshore areas around Louisiana and start looking for work in person. This is a good way to get started, but we know that not every person can afford to do this.

But if you can you can try checking out New Iberia and Port Fourchon in Louisiana. These are the go to places for people who are really willing to do what ever takes to get started.

There are entry level offshore jobs available here in every possible area from catering to electrical, from roughneck to welder.

Those two cities (New Iberia and Port Fourchon) are going to be your best bet if you don’t mind hustling to get started. There are no guarantees in this industry at all, this is going to give you the closest shot.

But what if you are not capable of actually getting down there to hunt for entry level jobs in person? That’s totally understandable because sometimes “real life” gets in the way of your plans.
